DESCRIPTION
Amazon Games is looking for a Senior UX Designer to partner with us as we build exciting new casual games with a multiplayer component. You will help establish an entirely new category for gaming and should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that’s higher than most projects. In this role, you'll work with teams in crafting engaging user experiences for our games across various platforms and interfaces. This includes standard UX elements like menus, HUDs, and icons, but you'll also be innovating new ways for users to interact with our games in a manner that is both visually appealing and user-friendly. Working with designers and other artists, you'll ensure the UX fits a game's style and enhances player experience. You should have strong graphic design skills, experience with design software, and knowledge of game UI/UX principles.
The opportunity to delight millions of gamers is massive, but it's also an ambiguous challenge. You will leverage your UI/UX game design knowledge to help define and prioritize content for Amazon customers who play games. You'll work with world-class third-party game developers to assess and design great content. You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and will collaborate with art, design, engineering, and other stakeholders to resolve ambiguity and balance competing priorities.
Key job responsibilities
* Provide creative vision and guidance on UI/UX elements that shape how our players interact with our games
* Be part of a multi-disciplinary brain trust that works primarily with external developers to guide Amazon thinking
* Translate stakeholder feedback into clear UX directions for external agencies and developing partners
* Help raise and set new standards for the highest-quality execution of in-game UI/UX for our games at key moments of their development cycles
* Be able to take the high strategic view as well as dive deep and execute great game interfaces to lead by example
* Evaluate challenges to effectively communicate and/or escalate UI/UX guidelines, accountability and resolution progress to partners and leadership
* Leverage data-driven customer insights and deep knowledge of formats and placements to make creative decisions
* Quickly prototype interface ideas and iterate through playtesting and player feedback
* Work with developers to ensure their UI/UX content and features are delivered to high quality
* Work with engineers and artists to refine our workflows and improve our tooling
* Partner with accessibility, certification and other internal teams to ensure our experiences are accessible to as many players as possible
* Remain up to date with products and services across the game industry, and also within Amazon, Twitch, and Amazon Game Studios.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of design experience
- Experience working with third-party developers to build great content
- Experience creating and documenting high-quality UI/UX guidelines and strategies
- Shipped games across a variety of platforms on time and on budget
- A portfolio demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices
- Experience communicating with customers, technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe products, and technical designs
- Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity
- Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Experience with Phaser, Babylon JS or similar HTML5 development tools.
