Seasonal (SEAS) position

Job Summary:
The Town of Barnstable Recreation Division is seeking a Program Specialist with expertise in gardening to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a Certified Master Gardener with experience in children's programs, possessing a strong background and knowledge of growing vegetables, herbs, and the underlying science.

Qualifications:
1. Certified Master Gardener.
2. Previous experience in developing and implementing children's gardening programs.
3. In-depth knowledge of cultivating vegetables, herbs, and the scientific principles involved.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
6. Must be over 21 years of age.
7. Successful completion of a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background check.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and oversee children's gardening programs in coordination with the Recreation Division.
2. Educate participants on gardening practices, including planting, watering, and harvesting.
3. Maintain garden areas and ensure proper care of plants.
4. Collaborate with staff to promote environmental awareness through gardening activities.
5. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed.
6. Assist in organizing and leading community events related to gardening.
