Title: Remote, Senior Accountant
Compensation: 90K – 110K
Environment: Hybrid – Fairfax, VA
Industry: Defense Contracting

Our client, a growing Government Contracting firm in the Northern Virginia area, is seeking an experienced GovCon Senior Accountant to help maintain financial integrity and support the organization's mission. This key role will assist in all aspects of operational and project accounting with the firm, including budgeting, general ledger preparation, compliance, grants, cost accounting, and audit readiness.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

• General Ledger analysis and reconciliations.
• Develop monthly financial statement and balance sheet account reconciliations and reports.
• Reconcile payroll to the accounting system.
• Set up new projects, mods, etc. Update for new hires, terms. Ensure the proper rates are in the accounting system for billing.
• Set up charge codes for client personnel to charge work.
• Prepare month-end adjusting journal entries – depreciation, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, etc.
• Develop the monthly financial package – balance sheet, profit and loss statement, AP aging, AR aging and statement of indirect expense (SIE)
• Review financial package numbers for unusual variances.

Senior Accountant Requirements:

• Strong knowledge and understanding of basic GAAP accounting principles.
• At least 3 - 5 years direct experience in general accounting, reporting, and managing the close process.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in accounting (or similar field)
• Unanet or Deltek experience required.
• Understanding of DCAA, GSA and FAR as it relates to accounting.
